FANGO
CLUBFANGO
A small creative space for children.
We squish, press, build, cut, connect, take things apart and try things out.
About Club Fango
Club Fango is a small creative atelier for children.
We work with clay, but we do not have to make a ceramic object every time. Some days we build, press, roll and sculpt. Other days we may work with paper, cardboard, found materials or things that are never meant to go into the kiln.
The idea is to give children time to experiment with materials, develop their own ideas and enjoy making things without the pressure that everything has to become a finished piece.
Sometimes something survives the process and gets fired. Sometimes it breaks while drying, is too thick to safely fire, or simply does not hold together.
Those pieces are part of the process too. The clay can be recycled and used again.
Club Fango is less about what we make and more about what happens while we are making it.
Melanie
I'm Melanie, an artist and educator living in the neighborhood.
I work across different materials and forms, and I'm especially interested in the space between art, everyday life and imagination.
Alongside my own artistic practice, I work with children as an educator.
Club Fango grew out of the things I enjoy most about both: making things with my hands and watching children discover what materials can do.
I don't think children always need to be shown what something is supposed to become. Sometimes it is much more interesting to give them the material and enough time to find out for themselves.
What We Do
Get Messy
Hands into the clay and see where it goes.
Experiment
Try materials, textures, shapes and unexpected combinations.
Let Go
Not every object has to be kept, perfected or finished.
Fire
Some pieces make it to the kiln and become ceramic.
Club Fango Groups
Explorers
For young makers who love to squish, press, build and experiment.
We explore different materials and leave plenty of room for imagination, curiosity and children's own ideas.
Storytellers
For children who enjoy inventing stories, building worlds and creating things that begin with an idea.
Projects can become a little more complex: figures, vessels, landscapes, imaginary places, or something that does not have a name yet.
Parent–Child Atelier
Looking ahead to next year, I would like to open a small parent–child course as a pilot project.
The course would be for children who can already sit independently, with a parent or caregiver joining the making.
Your Own Small Group
Are you a group of 3–4 friends who would like to come together? An additional group may be arranged depending on availability.
Languages
Classes are available in German, English and Spanish. The language can be chosen depending on the group.
Clay & Experiments
A small group with one hour each week to think with our hands, explore materials and make things together.
Some sessions focus strongly on clay and ceramics. Others may move into paper, cardboard, construction, temporary sculpture or found materials.
*When a piece is structurally suitable for firing.
Atelier Sessions
12 creative sessions with clay, materials and experiments.
Materials and firing of suitable ceramic pieces are included.
A separate introductory price applies to the founding group.
Some things stay. Some things don't.
Both belong here.
